Riding the fringes of reality and imagination.

 I'm D.K, and I'm glad you're here.

I do this because fiction is the only way for me to flesh out ideas to their essential components.

I believe that humans have a pathological drive to explore the wrong questions.

I'm a philosophical orphan, a disappointed idealist, and a hopeless romantic.

Here is what people are saying about MIR.EXE:

“Fans of William Gibson and Neal Stephenson should be transfixed…” - Kirkus Reviews

“MIR.EXE is a unique and excellent story that touches on AI technology, corporate abuse of economic and political power, and the effects of poverty.” – Christopher J. Harris

“...one of the most immersive techno-thrillers I’ve read in years. D.K. Dillenback doesn’t just build a world, he puts you inside it. The scenes are immediate, grounded, and tactically convincing. Extremely well done!” – Amazon Review

“…for people who enjoy cyberpunk with real political weight, readers who want a future that feels plausible and mean, and anyone who likes character-driven speculative fiction where the tech matters but the damage it does to people matters more.” - Literary Titan

“…a cyberpunk, dystopian science fiction novel with a strong techno-thriller pulse.” - Literary Titan

Who am I?

I'm D.K.

I'm an Author that grew up hating to write, and I'm a career military officer with an anti-authority streak. I'm pretty comfortable with the paradoxes.

I started writing poetry and music as a teen to manage my mental health. A writing course in grad school inspired me to take my writing further. I started a blog and got a few things published, even a poem I wrote about Afghanistan.

Then one night in August 2023, I woke up from a nightmare. It was the first real nightmare I remember having as an adult. By the time I brushed my teeth, I had decided to write a novel.

Now I write, coach, and publish as much as I can and have found purpose in refining my voice and style. I try to capture reason, order, and peace from an infinite web of complex adaptive systems.

I hope my work gives you a modicum of what it gives to me.
